Istanbul layover advice

My mum and I will be travelling through Turkey quite soon (we have a long layover in Istanbul and will be staying in a hotel arranged via Turkish airlines for such long haul flights) and I wanted to know any important things we should know please?

We don't speak the language + stand out a bit as foreigners (black) and I was wondering about traffic, getting transport to + from the hotel and catching our flight to our final destination on time. It will be our first time in Türkiye!

Would also love any recommendations for places to visit if close to the airport!
