Need opinions/perspectives over this…
I recently made a career shift from fundamental research (conservation) to a corporate. I worked in a non-profit foundation and as an career upgrade I decided it was time to move on. While I made this conscious decision, the directors of the foundation whom I considered as my mentors, started looking down on me as if I am doing something extremely selfish and that its a wrong decision.
Now, as far as my observations concern, it has been a trend in India for people working in NGOs to look down on someone who works in corporates. I don’t understand the condescension as even in those foundations we were pressurised to bring in money for basically running the projects and the organisation itself.
Mind you, both the directors are wealthy (one is almost a financial royalty and other is politically strong)
What are your perspectives on this? Ever experienced the same?
