A name for a region and a city

Question

Hi, I’m doing some worldbuilding and I need help with some names. I’m creating a fantasy nation that speaks Spanish (or Old Spanish, I guess) and is located inside a huge forest. To give a bit of context: a group of followers of a nature goddess, who were once part of an empire, made an exodus into an enchanted forest, where they eventually built a new civilization. The language of the empire was essentially Latin, and the linguistic evolution I’m aiming for is one that naturally leads to Spanish.

With that context out of the way, one of the regions of this nation is a very old one that preserves much of the nation’s ancient culture. The region is inhabited by one major city-state, several sparsely populated witch communities, and several of fertile glades used for agriculture.

I was thinking of naming the region Venefia, from venefica (Latin for “witch”, venenum=“poison,” facere=“to make”) combined with the suffix -ia (land of), but I’m not sure if it sounds natural.

As for the city, I was considering taking the Latin word triticum and modifying it to show phonological change, similar to what happened with Toledo, which was originally Toletum (raised/elevated). This fits the idea of the city being a major agricultural trade hub, since this specific forest region contains several glades where agriculture is possible.

I also considered naming the city after the word "glade", but from what I’ve researched, the Romans didn’t seem to have a specific term for forest glades, so there isn’t a direct Latin word for it.
