Breast refusal now EP
My baby is 13 weeks now. Around 9 weeks she started refusing the breast. Gradually over the last month she’s completely given up breast feeding. It seemed like some kind of aversion. Screaming crying if I put her in a BF position. I kept the BF going by feeding her laying down and sleepy but that doesn’t work anymore. Now EP, but she doesn’t even take bottles that great either. Her ped just prescribed reflux medicine to see if that helps but it takes 1-2 weeks to see any change.
My supply has tanked. Maybe bc of the stress? She used to just nurse one side and I’m guessing it was 4 oz bc that’s what I would get when I pumped just one side. But now I pump and I can barely get 4oz from both sides. I pump every 3 hours basically after she eats, at 9pm before bed and once or twice overnight depending on how many times she eats over night. My questions are: how can I increase my supply? Is it too late to increase my supply and spread out these pumps? Pumping every 3 hours is killing me. And has anyone else had their baby who previously nursed fine just refuse??
My mental health is in the toilet. This is not how I thought things would go. We worked so hard to get back from a bad latch at the beginning, over supply issues making it hard for her to manage the flow, then things were going great til she suddenly refused to nurse. I feel unprepared to manage an EP feeding relationship especially if I have to pump for every single feed. Plus she isn’t taking the bottle that great either so I worry she isn’t getting enough ounces in. She’ll eat anywhere from 17-22 ounces a day. Still making plenty of wet and dirty diapers. Still gaining weight. But my obsession over how many ounces she eats and how my I produce is tearing me apart. I miss nursing her and just trusting my supply and her cues to let me know when she’s hungry. 😭
