Adding friends from psn on pc

I’ve been looking around and can’t find a clear answer and nothing that I’ve seen mentioned has worked. I’m trying to add a friend who is on PlayStation while I am on pc. I’ve tried with crossplay on and off, I’ve messed with friend invite settings and even tried using other EA apps and neither one of us has received a friend request from the other. Has anyone found a solution to this issue? I can’t be the only person this is happening to.
