This is 6 weeks of growth on a tray of TC typicals I bought, repotted into pure peat moss, fertilized in soil with osmocote, and fertilized in traps with fish food and a still experimental chemical fertilizer approach.

16h a day photoperiod, with just cheap Barrina lights spaced every 6". So 120w of lights spread out over 4 1020 trays. It's about 15-20,000 lux.

Warm temps (75-85f). That's basically it.

They're not only growing tons of new leaves, nearly every dormant axial bud has started turning into a new rhizome. Some are already overtaking the main growth point. Most of these plants have 10+ new growth points going. I have 14 1020 trays, each containing on average 28 2.5" pots. Fuck, that's as lot of plants already. I bet I can increase this number by 5x by spring if I let the new rhizomes mature then split them out into community pots.

I assume that this is due to the genetics of the TC typicals: they select for fast growing, clump forming strains. But I'm here for it. My desire is to have bogs with forests of VFTs rocking out in my yard, so this is my incubation chamber. I'm busting out about 1200w total in my grow setup- my light level is suboptimal for individual plant phenotype, but probably about optimal for photosynthetic yield.

Given their intrinsic rate of growth, I don't think I'll have a hard time of making 5000-10000 of these in the next 12 months. Exponential growth is crazy shit. Not bad for a few hundred bucks in upfront costs. I also spend about 60 bucks a month on electricity to fuel all this (\~10c / kwh), though my full set of plants is roughly 50% larger (sarracenia seedlings, drosera, utrics, etc). Also, all the waste heat from these plants heats my house, so it's not even really 60 a month, it's essentially free plant growing as I heat my house.

What a fun hobby!
