Mod Announcement & Community Update | Winter 2025
Good Evening Collectors, Hobbyers, Communitiers, Comrades and Enthusiasts,
Recently the community has gained quite a lot of attention and has built itself quite a bit! This is great news, as I myself really like to collect pins (I like lapel or enamel, but I don't like buttons). With all of this attention though, it was important for us to realize that something needed to happen, something needed to change. It was time for an update. Our Great Comrade u/PossibleSource9132 O7 held down the fort for many many months, and had only since recently recruited me to help with the job. The task was harsh, the burden was hard to carry, however I had accepted the order from General Possible to help assist him in creating a community that is meant for showing off and trading Soviet Memorabilia. After I accepted the task, well, we both got kinda lazy and did other stuff for a couple of weeks BUT!
~Comrades & Comradettes, Here is the Update!~
- Updated Rule List - We updated the rule list to have it be pretty basic but cover some pretty common bases. A lot of them are pretty straight forward. I mean, I would imagine that when someone would search for something like this community, that they would have an idea of what they are looking for (unless they accidentally typed "red" instead of "rwby" and was shocked to find soviets instead of anime). So while we do welcome everyone, because alot of people are just fascinated with antique collecting, we are not really a super political subreddit. More just collectors, but an admiration for soviet aesthetic. Also on there is very basic, no harassing, dont scam people, and even a 6th one that gives the mod team a little flexibility in what we need to do to keep our community safe from misc. unwanted activity.
- Updated Banner & Color Scheme - To keep the community looking more clean looking, the subreddit is now getting a new banner icon. It is an image of a 1988 100 USSR Ruble, and then as you can tell, the background is another very popular soviet item/symbol, a Matryoshka Doll. Both very fitting for our subreddit, and with that are those same colors of Red & Gold. You'll notice that it now has a theme.
- Updated Post/User Flairs - Keeping in line with changing and appealing imagery, we also carried that idea over to our user flairs. Users can now assign their own personal flairs from a preset list on our subreddit and personalize their experience. The user flairs are tasteful and light, which goes back to our idea that this is a more welcoming community, we wanted to show others a good showmanship of leftism without a hardline suffocating political avenue of hate. You'll also notice Post flairs are colorized and ordered, with different catagories within them. For the most part its pretty alphabetical as well, it just looks very clean and neat.
- Updated Mod Replies - This is more on the back end of things, but now we have a set list of replies for when things get removed or worse *gasp* when someone gets banned. Now, again, this is good for the team since it is giving us the tools we need to keep the community safe. We needed to invent a reason to have controversial nonsense gone, and so now we have it. And now we also know how to reply to others and be cordial about it. Simple comment removals once or twice should be no hard feelings for our long time users, so it is worded where it shouldn't be taken as a big thing, it's just us doing housekeeping momentarialy. But even those that get (ut oh) BANNED we still give them some sort of credibilty and respect as we say goodbye to their ways. Even if they are real people or bots. So thats Nice
- Updated Community Description - This was updated along with the rules and the banner
- Pinned Post of the Week - I would like to try and have some cool items found on the subreddit to be pinned each week. I think we all know that there are lots of cool stuff so we want to give credit to others by showing them off! Hats off to you comrade! You could be pinned to the top!
I hope everyone will enjoy these changes. I am open to hearing feedback on them in the comments down below. If you have any sort of ideas, concerns or regards that you would want to mention or air out, be sure to message that as well, or you can always send a message directly to the mod team as well. May everyone have a wonderful holiday season and be sure to start that collection too!
