Elf Names

I’m new to elf on the shelf with my kids. My oldest is 5. He named our elf and it’s… interesting. After me being wrong many times, he carefully sounded out her name. Ad-Tha-Ween-Ah. I was trying for at least Adaweena but no, it’s Adthaweena and I’m at a loss lol. Is it a thing to change their names every year? Or is this gem we should cherish?
