Question about name change in the context of international college

Custody Divorce and Family

Location: Williamson County, Tennessee, United States

I’m a 17yrold trans man looking to attend college in the UK. I’m interested in being stealth (not having anyone know I’m trans) once I move overseas. I believe this goal would be easier to achieve if I had my name legally changed (fewer opportunities to be outed).

I turn 18 in April and the course I’ve applied to begins in mid-late September for both schools. Assuming I would have to fly to the UK some 2-3 weeks prior to the actual course beginning, my question is: would/how could I make it be feasible for me to legally change my name and receive my updated passport in the time frame between late April and mid-August of 2026? Ideally, I would also be like to change my driver’s license, birth certificate, and social security card in this time period.

I’m open to any advice as I’ve done only some research on this process and am still blurry on specifics. I should also note that I would likely have to keep this process concealed from my parents, whom I unfortunately live with. Thanks in advance for the help!
