Question about Ares Wounds and Vow of Wards
In u/Stuff_Tacos, In Defense of Ares post. (if you have not read that post yet I highly recommend you do. They bring up plenty of good points.)
u/xKabutey, made this comment.
“Barriers from Wards doesn’t affect Wounds. The status effect doesn’t stick against barriers meaning every hit will have the +50 power bonus from Wounds including the first damaging hit. The 3 second cooldown only goes into effect after you land a real hit that isn’t negated by Wards. Just tested this in game to be sure; they changed this a while ago before release to prevent Wards from making Wounds useless.”
So I decided to test this today and make sure it works.
I made sure that I had no damage boosts from my Arcana Cards and I took Frinos as my animal familiar.
I used Aspect of Mel for the Black Coat because the Attack combo is just 40 base damage repeated.
So I started my run with Max Vow of Wards turned on and managed to get Heroic Ares Attack(+50% damage).
So may Attack when inflicting Wounds does 135 damage and When it is not inflicting wounds it deals 60 damage.
So when I hit the warded enemies my first Attack had the wounds bonus and did 135 damage.
But the following Attacks on the second ward and the enemies actual HP only did 60 damage.
So my testing shows that Vow of Wards does eat the Wounds proc.
While u/xKabutey testing shows that Wards do not eat the Wounds proc.
So did u/xKabutey do something wrong in their testing?
Did o do something wrong in my testing?
Did one of us just misread the damage?
Or are we both right and SGG did a stealth update that Patched this out?
