Pickup truck doesn't want to drive

I have a 2001 Ford ranger XLT 4x4, and my truck doesn't run when I put it in drive.

When I put the vehicle in drive, I add throttle and it revs the engine, but it doesn't spin the rear wheels at all, I tried putting it 4x4 High and low and it jerks forward a bit then stops and the truck rolls back.

I do have modifications done to the truck before I bought it, it has a 6 inch lift with 32 inch t*res, the old rear shocks were bad and I replaced them with new ones.(don't know if this helps, just trying to give more information 👍)

The ranger has a column shifter, so I heard from friends that sometimes they can be finicky and look like it's in drive, but not actually engaged that's also something else that could probably be the issue, but again I'm not entirely sure and need help.
