Any way to replace the "rubber" grip on a K70 wrist rest?

I was trying to clean my keyboard wrist rest and went a little too aggressive and seemed to have rubbed off the rubber (?) grip texture on a section of my K70 RGB Pro.

This part. So now it's lost its grip on my palm (also looks bad) and my hand slides around if it's slightly moist. Corsair doesn't sell just the wrist rest, and eBay wants some $30+.

Can get pics of it if necessary.

Any ideas on how I could repair it myself? Or maybe I'll just glue a leather strip over the whole wrist rest.. hmm.
