RD to MD

Hello all! I’m a dietetic intern, close to finishing up my program- and although I love the work clinical dieticians do, I’m not sure if I can see myself doing it for the rest of my life. (Namely, due to the fact that our scope is relatively limited).

That said- I was wondering if there are any RD’s on here who have gone on to pursue an MD, or the PA route? I’m heavily considering both as options for after I’ve worked in the field for a few years (and who’s to say, maybe I’ll end up wanting to stick with clinical nutrition)

Side note: I highly recommend you look into what clinical dieticians do in an inpatient and outpatient setting if you’re planning to peruse medicine! We work alongside physicians, and it’s really rare to see a med student (or even resident physician) who understands our role 😭. Briefly learning more about the members in your inter-professional team is vital when it comes to building trust.
