My family has issues with me not wanting clothes as gifts

Support Needed (Kind Advice and Commiseration)

So, a few days ago was my birthday. Because it's December, many people through the years have given me a "2 in 1" gift that accounts for my birthday and Christmas. I don't mind, I'm not a very picky person when it comes to gifts. There is only a small selection of things that I never want to receive and that's clothes. Not only the texture but also the smell, the size, everything about it needs to be exactly like I say. It's come to a point where I can't even predict if I'll like a piece of clothing until I put it on. Because of that I've been telling my parents and closest relatives to not buy me clothes for years. I appreciate the gesture and won't blame anyone for not knowing if it's a first-time thing.

That's my only "hard rule" when it comes to gifts. I hate having to reinforce it because people in my family (typically NT) have a habit of making me feel like a monster for setting certain boundaries that they deem excessive. My mother usually gets irritated because I don't want to be touched without my consent, and I have to respond very rudily to be respected, otherwise nobody ever takes me seriously or even seems to be listening to me. It was especially afwul when I was a child and had no bodily autonomy.

So anyway, this gift thing keeps happening every year. I have to smile and pretend that I like the gift otherwise I'm being rude and uneppreciative, despite having being very clear about not wanting clothes. Today I opened my gift with a very bored face because I already knew what to expect. I was asked if I liked and I said no, that I wouldn't be wearing them because the pants were a tight fit and I don't like the feeling on my thighs. Lying is very tiring for me, and I especially don't like it when I have to lie to spare someone's feelings just because they get offended. I refused to apologize and my mother cried. My sister got very angry at me and told me I'm constantly ruining the mood.

I'm too autistic for this. Even if I try to say sorry I know it'll come off as fake because I don't feel like I did something wrong. I've also been going to therapy and working on being more confrontational since I've been raised in an avoidant family, and I think that's it. Ignoring the elephant in the room clashes with my austic need to be honest about my feelings. Social rules dictate I should feel sorry about making my mother cry and upsetting my sister, but I feel actually liberated after getting that reaction.

I'm very strict about boundaries, "literal" (like many autistic people). If you tell me you don't like peanuts I'm not offering you peanuts. If you tell me you're vegan I respect your choice to eat (or not eat) whatever you want. If you tell me you don't like dogs I'm not forcing you to like mine. To me, it's a very reasonable, logical thing to have certain (innocuous) preferences and expect people to meet them once you've explicitly told them.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? How do you deal with it?
