Can someone explain the VIP status to me?

I recently added up my transactions from April to present day and I’ve spent roughly $1,945.58 on the game. How exactly does the VIP status work? I believe I read you had to spend $2100 for the lowest tier? Please correct me if I’m wrong. Regardless, does this spending threshold reset annually? Is it annually as in January 1st or a year from when you started playing? Just wondering if the $2100 requirement is correct and if I need to spend $154 more dollars by the end of the month to qualify 😂
