The Band Members and Politics

I have been a casual observer of the main subreddit for a while now and every so often a discussion breaks out about which of the members are left or right wing.

John has been labelled right wing for his opinions for example.

The question i wanted to ask, keeping in mind that Serj and Daron write the majority of the lyrics.

How did you people ever consider the band to be left wing when they have a song that directly labels Sunni Muslims as heathens and they also wrote a song from Charles Manson's perspective?
