Am I wrong for this? Customer messaged not to pick up order but seems like a scam
I had an order for $18 for 12 miles, drove 9 miles to pick it up.
By the time I sat in line and they were boxing up my order I was messaged by the customer not to pick up the order because their account got hacked
It was a $200 food order with 10 items
I went ahead and confirmed the pickup and messaged support that the order was fraudulent. They told me to dispose of the order. I just kept the food
Should I have not picked up the order? I felt like them messaging me instead of support contacting me or them just canceling the order is what someone who genuinely had a fake order would have done.
They waited an hour after the order was sent to the restaurant to message me and I feel like if it was legit they could have contacted support and had the order cancelled the proper way
Felt like a scam where they were going to pick up the order themselves and contact support themselves to get the food for free
I don’t really have any regrets because it fed me and my wife for the week. Sucks if it was an illegitimate order but shouldn’t they just contact uber support and get their charges reversed by their bank/credit card company?
I don’t order delivery through the apps so I don’t have much experience with what the customer side looks like in this kind of scenario.
