Can we blame most, if not all, our issues within the black community on slavery? Or is that being dismissive?
I’m writing my final essay “How Racial Capitalism Developed Inequality In The U.S” in English and I couldn’t help but notice how much psychological warfare slavery has caused, just so we couldn’t accumulate wealth. To the point we still suffer generational trauma which is still being passed down each generation. I used to joke and be like “I blame slavery” but now I feel like we really can. Colorism, texturism, featurism, redlining, food scarcity like it’s so much to the point we inflict the same pain onto each other. I think is why black generational wealth is so important, not only is it healing but gives us such a head start in a system that was purposely made for us to fail from the start.
