Imagine if Roman Reigns would've taken this route after losing his title...
Don't get me wrong at the wrestlemania 40 storyline was fantastic... and Roman very much deserved his time off afterwards. I've just been brainstorming what would've been an interesting storyline which I also thought they may have booked...
Say Roman becomes the most unhinged guy in the company. He's already been a heel, but he becomes a super mega heal after losing his title after his long title reign...
Imagine on Raw, the night after Wrestlemania 40... Cody is in the ring to open the show celebrating his victory and Roman interferes to attack him, and they brawl and have to be separated and Triple H/Adam Pierce schedule to rematch for Backlash 2024.
But that's also not where it ends… he doesn't just go after Cody... he begins to cause complete and utter chaos on both Raw and SmackDown and even goes over to cause mayhem on NXT...
Just imagine Roman Reigns turns on everybody... even Superman punches, Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso, and Solo.... and blames them for his loss.
Imagine Roman is interfering in every match/ segment that he can... he costs fan favors title opportunities, he attacks many people on the roster that have nothing to do with him,... and he injures a lot of fan favorites and puts them on the shelf... he goes after everybody… it doesn't matter whether they're a baby face, or a heel… Whether they're a mid carder, or in the main event scene, it doesn't matter. He's attacking everyone on the roster he's able to get access to. Kinda like the nexus in 2010 except different psychology and even more dominant than the nexus.
He fights off security, Superman punches Adam Pierce on raw and Nick Aldis on SmackDown... even sometimes attacks the innocent commentators out of complete and utter rage... and has to be suspended numerous times but still shows up after.
Also whenever Raw or SmackDown has a legend return... he interferes and he attacks the legend. He also randomly shows up and ambushes people during backstage interviews out of nowhere.
He's constantly cutting promos in anger... declaring that this doesn't stop until he gets his title back.
Say they have the match and he has to rematch with Cody at Backlash and he has to be escorted by security... he loses clean despite everything... this only causes him to get even more unhinged and continue to cause more and more mayhem, and even more frequently starts interfering in every match that he can, interfering in numerous segments, fighting and security guards, etc.
Throughout summer 2024… he's been causing all the chaos and mayhem that he can and no matter how many times he's suspended or ejected from the arenas, or how strong of a security force is ordered to prevent him from entering the arena…, he still finds his ways... and he continues cutting promos and dropping in social media videos declaring that this doesn't stop until he gets his title back.
Eventually… when Roman is in the middle of the ring, cutting a promo... or when he interferes in another match... the whole locker room decides they've had enough... they all run into the arena and attack Roman at once... and they beat him senseless... and then Roman is taken away in a stretcher, put in the back of an ambulance and then he's not seen or heard from for a long time after...
Say other stars like Cody Rhodes and LA Knight and Montez Ford and Carmelo Hayes get properly booked... and then Roman Reigns obviously doesn't get completely forgotten, but the current roster is good enough that he's not the center of discussion...
And then sometime in 2025 or 2026 whether it's surprise entry in the Royal Rumble or wrestlemania 41 or wrestlemania 42 or the Raw after... Roman's music hits for the first time in a long time... gets one of the loudest crowd reactions and pops in history... and goes on a likely have another iconic run.
Again, I'm not saying the wrestlemania 40 booking was bad... i'm just saying I think that would've also been interesting and compelling.
