My thoughts...

It just sort of dawned on me that The Town and the people in it are like a video game. Things replenished themselves, up until a certain point the weather never changed, and those who were, for lack of a better term, tag alongs to main players in the town ( people who are reincarnated to come back to the town) are the NPCs ( none playing characters). Also, as I've seen in some games I've played) that once you enter a certain part of the map, you can't leave until you've completed a certain mission.
