The glacial pace
Big VG fan but I have to say I'm on the fence with this show so far.
5 episodes in and I feel like it would have been much tighter and more compelling as 3 episodes. I'm not really a fan of the argument that "oh you just don't like slow paced stuff because your attention span has been white-antted by social media"....personally I enjoy slow stuff if it's done well, I love the films of Apitchapong Weerasethakul, Jonas Mekas, "Happy Hour" by Ryusuke Hamaguchi (a 6 hour movie with almost no plot) is one of my personal favourites and they are all much MUCH slower paced than Pluribus...but the fact that there is essentially only one character in this show and she's rather an unpleasant, charmless person and we have to sit with her soooo long is testing my patience a little. Slow doesn't automatically mean good.
There are definitely some compelling elements but the overall concept feels more like a Twilight Zone episode, it's hard to see how it will sustain over multiple seasons.
I'll keep watching for now but it's got a rather odd tone....is it dark and bleak? Kind of but not really. Is it horror? Maybe. Is it goofy and comedy? At times but its not actually that funny.
I know this a subreddit for a tv show and typically you're not allowed to be anything but a happy clapper but surely there are others who are still watching to see where it goes but having doubts if it's good?
