the difference between PC and console PvP is genuinely nuts

Discussion

first off, i’m not about to sit here and complain, but i just angrily got off because i was so blown away by how many failed runs and how much gear i’ve lost today because everybody just shot me on sight, camped the loot spots / extractions etc. and even if i win one fight, somebody else would come along and finish me seconds later before i could even heal up. i’m not that good at the game, so that could be a factor, but i felt especially bad today to the point where game fatigue was setting in.

i go and sit down to watch the last episode of chair company, and i’m just confused by how terrible every player interaction i had over the course of my day off was, and then i remembered, i turned crossplay on this morning to do a trade, and i forgot to turn it back off. 8/10 raids with crossplay off for the majority of my 50 hours logged were chill as hell, pvp encounters were a surprise, which made them more fun because they were rare, it would actually get my heart pumping.

today was just a complete rat fest, it’s a completely different game, i really think that if i bought this game on my PS or xbox, i would have put it down for good after a day or so. i don’t know how console players do it, nobody talks, nobody fights arc together, even people who are like 200 meters away take random pot shots at you with a rattler just for existing in their line of sight - it’s like it’s pvp or nothing at all to them.

maybe i’m just huffing copium, but i’m interested to see the difference when i turn crossplay back off; it also makes me wonder about other games i stopped playing because i felt like i just sucked at them and wasn’t cut out for how toxic the players were, being that i only got my PC a few months ago.
