Looking to upgrade home computer, need suggestions.

I have a home computer I use for gaming and school work. I have had this computer for almost 10 years and love it to bits. But I have only upgraded it with a new cooling tower and increased storage since I first built it.

It's been great but can feel like it's time to get some upgrades to keep up with modern software.

My current specs are

Ram: 16gb

Processor: AMD FX-9370 Eight-Core Processor (4.00 GHz)

GPU: (4GB) NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

Storage: 2.05 TB

I'd like to get some advice on what to upgrade first to increase my performance and would appreciate any other tips/upgrades I could be making.

Thank you in advance.
