Giving my son the same name as me

 ​Hi everyone! I'm looking for some thoughts on a naming idea I've been considering.
  ​I'm thinking about naming my son John. The same name as me. I know this tradition often gets criticized or can seem a bit egotistical, but I want to make it clear that I am NOT naming him after myself.
 ​My wife is on board, and the real reason is that John is a classic, common name for a lot of badass movie/video game characters. 
 ​I just worry that it will still look like I'm being egotistical, which I'm actively trying to avoid. Let me know your thoughts.
