Kody officiating

First time watching so maybe this is stupid but i’m watching them plan Mykelti’s wedding and they make a big deal about not asking Kody to officiate.

maybe it’s just where i’m from but i’ve always viewed being the father of the bride as a separate job of sorts. I would never ask my dad to officiate, he’s already busy, being idk MY DAD??

Im just so confused, is this a thing? or was it just a big thing because she asked a friend/her boss?
