"AI" is artificial, but not intelligent.
I was thinking about buying used cars, a process I've been through many times, and I considered what an actual AI, even one that's not all that intelligent would be able to do for this process.
Imagine being able to tell an AI "Go through craigslist and facebook marketplace listings for [car model, year, type, mileage, etc] and filter out listings that look like scams or dealership listings. Then compare the asking price vs the kelley blue book value for each car and give me a summary of the best ten listings that meet these criteria based on price and another best ten that meet these criteria based on mileage.
It's a relatively straightforward task that you could give to a human of average intelligence and they could complete.
This is what real AI could provide.
Instead we have large language models that can give you possibly true information that needs to be double checked and can use the internet, but not in a way that's much more useful than googling something and selecting the first link that comes up.
I can't believe so many people are so bullish on this obvious AI bubble and that any jobs have even been lost by being "replaced" by AI.
