I hate it when fast food workers call me “boss.”

Have some self respect.

It’s neither the Jedi mind trick they think it is, nor is it my fault that they hate their job.

I can’t smile enough or stare straight ahead enough (no eye contact) or use overly expressive, exaggerated body language/head nods (to signal overeagerness, a desire for the interaction to proceed politely and smoothly) enough, or be misunderstood for saying “thank you” enough to stop them from having to work what is, admittedly, a stressful, thankless sort of job.

I’m not likely to lobby congress for better wages on their behalf, all things being equal, because I have my own shit to sort out and I’m just hungry.

You have my sympathies, my respect, and goodwill, but, if you don’t want to be where you are, maybe you shouldn’t act like you belong there.
