Taking parents and child to Italy September 2026 - looking for Rome accommodations and must do experiences in Florence
Hi All - we are officially within a year of our trip and are excitedly working through planning. Our Itinerary is below:
- 2 nights staying in Venice in Dorsoduro.
- 4 nights staying in Ortisei at Gardena Grodnerhof
- Renting a car from Verona for this leg of the trip and driving up the Brenner Pass.
- Largely exploring the areas between Plose and Alpi di Siusi with a day trip out to some fo the sights near Cortina D'Ampezzo.
- 2 nights staying at La Maison du Sage in Santa Croce
- Taking an early morning train into Florence.
- Itinerary is largely TBD as it is our first time in Florence.
- 4 nights in Rome, still TBD on location...
- We have stayed in airbnbs in Monti before, and are open to that again, but are looking for additional 3/4 star hotel options more central to the action for my parents and also to give us the flexibility to go back to the hotel should our 16 m.o. need some quiet time.
What are some must have experiences you recommend along the way, specifically Florence (first time for all of us), and hotels that made a lasting impression upon you in Rome? Thank you all in advance.
