Vent
Hello! I (25F) wanted to just vent about my current situation and how I don’t know how to feel about it. So early this year I got a new job, and I got a physical exam where the doctor told me that my thyroid was enlarged. Fast forward 6 months when I met with my PCP and she was also concerned so ordered ultrasound, which then turned to biopsy, which then turned into potential cancer. So I had a total thyroidectomy at the end of September, which was an okay experience for me overall, healing has been a journey but overall okay. I was officially diagnosed with two kinds of cancer, one on each side of my thyroid. Papillary on the left, oncocytic on the right, as well as Hashimoto’s on the underbelly of the thyroid. It all happened so fast, and it’s hard to believe I had cancer and somehow beat it in such a short time span. I had my first appointment with endocrinology and he checked my levels, in which he adjusted my medication slightly, and added VD3 to hopefully help with the calcium side of things. He also checked the thyroglobulin, which looks promising! But he also checked the thyroglobulin antibodies, and they are quadruple where they are supposed to be at this point (which should be almost gone). My doctor ordered an ultrasound and additional labs for six months from now. So for now all I can do is just wait. I am just wondering if anyone else out there has gone through something similar? Or if I’m just a medical anomaly LOL.
