I contracted scabies about 4 or so weeks ago, I’m theorizing right before Halloween, because I remember when the itching initially started. On the entirety of the underside of my right forearm, I noticed a deep and persistent itch, that would come and go at first, but it didn’t cause any bumps on my skin, so I tried to brush it off and write it off as nothing.
But I kept feeling the itch come out of no where, especially at night, so I remember looking at my forearm really closely in the shower one night and seeing the water reflecting off of a bumpy rash texture the was forming on my arm, and I knew I was fucked, because I have had scabies before but it was very mild and got fried off in the UV from a vacation that I went on soon after I contracted it, so I didn’t think much off it.
But this time, the weather has been cold, and my skin gets no exposure to the air or sunlight, which I 100% believe made the infestation 10x worse. So in that moment that I saw the bumps on my arm I knew I needed to get ahold of permethrin 5% cream, I contact my doctor and get it prescribed easily (I live in the US) but it does nothing, and I see that after a few days it’s just getting worse and worse, spreading up and down my arms and across my chest.
At this point I had been infested for about two weeks, but I was really starting to feel it. My symptoms were getting worse and worse by the day, the rash slowly spreading up my neck and down my legs. 2 days past and my whole body is infested. I can run my hand over and part of my body except my face, and I would feel tiny little bumps everywhere. I couldn’t feel my skin texture ANYWHERE.
I was starting to feel them on my scalp. And not to mention in this period of time which felt like weeks and weeks, My mental health was deteriorating more than my body. I COULD NOT SLEEP. The only thing that helped were antihistamines that knocked me out. I was calling all my friends and family for help because at that point I was getting freaked out because I started having suicidal thoughts. I was losing hope, and the doctor wouldn’t take my suffering seriously.
I got my hands on multiple rounds of permethrin, then when that didn’t work I did my own research and DEMANDED Ivermectin, which they don’t give to you easily. I was doing a neurotic level of environmental cleaning, took out my rugs and pillows and deep cleaned my mattress and covered it and my pillows with waterproof covers. I sprinkled diatomaceous earth before I put my sheets on everyday. I never wore anything twice without washing it.
I was starting to lose hope until I started looking into natural remedies even more, I saw that Sulphur soap and sulphur lotion can kill mites and tea tree oil, and Blackseed oil and Palo Santo oil. I got everything I could get my hands on. I scrubbed myself with sulfur soap, three times a day continued environmentally cleaning while also using permethrin and took two 4 pill doses in the span of two weeks of Ivermectin. I highly recommend the “mite be gone” sulphur soap and lotion kit from Amazon. I used that every day 3 times a day for a week straight.
I also recommend going to a tanning bed. I believe if you went to one every day for a week or two, they would be gone because that is exactly how I got rid of them the first time, UV therapy, only it was straight from the sun, so unless you can fly your private jet out to a tropical island with powerful ass UV, I recommend the tanning beds, if anything the UV treatments with provide relief. IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN that UV kills scabies, but you need to combine it with other treatments as well because scabies bounces back like crazy. Consistency is key for all of these treatments.
I started nourishing my skin from the inside with skin healing chinese snow fungus soup and skin regenerating herbs. It was difficult, but I had to tell everyone around me to get treated with permethrin any sexual partners or anyone that had been exposed to my bedding.
I can now say that I am scabies free and I credit it largely to the Sulphur soap. It dried my skin out and made it raw, but it numbed the symptoms of the scabies and eventually healed them. I know that anyone suffering right now wants to lose hope and I did too, but trust me you just need to stay adamant and and use the gifts that nature gives us.
The picture inserted shows how bad it was. I didn’t think anything could help me. Because my PHD HAVING DOCTOR THAT LITERALLY SHOULD KNOW EXACTLY HOW TO CURE ME COULDN’T HELP ME AT ALL. They just threw random creams and steroids at me, not caring if I was actually feeling better. I wanted to lose all hope in Western medicine.
I believe it failed me, and you are not alone if you feel the same because my doctors wouldn’t take me seriously either, but I believe a combination of natural medicine and the Ivermectin & Permethrin is what cured me and I had an extremely resistant case. I just attacked them with everything I had, thinking “I will make their environment as hostile and hellish as they have made mine” It was even starting to spread on my face and to my eyes.
What got me through it all was taking care of my mental health, doing things to distract me, realizing that in the millions and millions of cases all over the world of scabies, none of them are permanent, and honestly, there are way worse things that could happen to my health than this.
I was making sure to sleep as well as I could, and maintaining hope no matter how hard it got because eventually…. with all the strength I had in me, I wiped them out. My skin has been healing for the past three days. right now it’s just dry with patchy red splotches and some slight itching, but definitely just skin irritation. Nothing like the insufferable itch of the scabies. I can tell that if I just keep nourishing my skin that it will bounce back to normal in a matter of just a couple weeks. I hope someone has found this helpful. Good luck, it’s possible.
