Eosinophilic Esophagitis and BII

BII Symptoms 🩺

I have had my implants since 2011, and never connected symptoms to the implants. I only recently learned about BII because I have a grade 3 capsular contraction. It is becoming uncomfortable and noticeable, so I went in for a consult. The surgeon said he could take them out, but "I probably wouldn't be happy" with the results. After seeking other options, I found a surgeon who specializes in explant surgery, and I'm scheduled for implant removal and capsulectomy 12/8. My eosinophils have been consistently elevated for the past two years, regardless of the season. My throat burns, I'm constantly fatigued and I have trouble swallowing. I finally scheduled an endoscopy, which yielded results consistent with severe, long standing EoE. The doctor wants me to start Dupixent, but I want to wait until after explant to see if my immune system calms down and I can manage symptoms with diet, PPI, etc. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? If so, did your symptoms improve post explant? I am so hopeful. I can't remember the last time I had a full, consistent, productive week. Looking back, I realize the implants started causing problems as early as 2012, but I never connected the dots. Any advice is appreciated!
