VertX Burrel Women's Jeans Review
Back in 2022, I got my first pair of VertX Burrell jeans, and I immediately fell in love with them. I was looking for better jeans to conceal carry with, and they were highly recommended. When I ordered them, they were $75, and I thought that was a bit crazy because I was used to the $30-$40 price tag of my AE jeans, which I considered expensive. However, I decided to make the leap and spend the money. Once I tried them on, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice they are.
First off, THE POCKETS!!! These jeans have REAL pockets that I can actually put stuff in. Normally, I’d have to buy high-waisted jeans to reliably find usable pockets, but these jeans are lower-waisted, but not exactly the low-rise jeans of my youth; they ride about exactly where I'd want them to be. On the topic of pockets, they have two in the front, two in the back, and two hidden pockets above the back pockets, which are PERFECT for your cellphone but are designed to hold a 30-round AR mag. All of the pockets except for the back two have a nice soft mesh liner that is super breathable, durable, and comfortable.
Inside the front pockets, they have a pull tab that can be used to pull the pocket inside out or attach a carabiner for keys or whatever else. Inside the little coin pocket, there is a passthrough hole they advertise for a RATS tourniquet, which I don’t recommend, but could be used for some sort of cordage, I guess. Inside the back pockets, they have a double layer that can be used to pull over valuable items so they’re harder to lose. Never really used that feature, but it's cool, I guess. In my jeans, I'm able to carry a pocket knife, a multi-tool, a ridge wallet, a 15-round magazine, and a flashlight! And I still have pocket space available, all while looking super lowkey and like regular jeans.
On the fit, they fit true to size compared to my AE jeans and have the same booty-lifting abilities my AE jeans do. So yeah, they’re good booty jeans 100%. I normally wear a size 6 since getting a little thicker, but I buy a size up so I have extra room in my waistband for my gun and holster. They fit kind of like a bootcut jean, but they’re super cute and very comfy. One thing I will say is that these jeans aren’t exactly fat kitty friendly… if you know, you know. The front is cut a little higher than I'd like and kind of tends to give a camel toe. Which, if you're not opposed to that, is fine, but I find myself untucking them periodically. Which isn’t terrible, but one complaint.
As for comfort and durability, they’re amazing! Super comfortable and they’re stretchy like the AE jeans. I usually have to replace my jeans about every year or so due to my thighs rubbing together when I walk, but these jeans hold up better than most I’ve tried. I’ve had a couple of pairs blow out in the thighs, but they were very high-use, so I’m not surprised.
To put it bluntly, these are absolutely my favorite jeans ever, and I'd only wear them if I could. However, sadly, as of October 2025, it appears these jeans are being discontinued by VertX. I have ordered 3 pairs of the 5.11 women’s jeans to see how those compare, and I will definitely provide an update.
Thanks for reading!!
