Long time rider first time sports bike rider, tips?

Been riding about 11 years, I've been off 2 wheels for about a year or so, I'm coming from a background of cruisers and dual sports and im buying my first sports bike this week an 01 Honda F4i with only about 20k miles. I'm getting it an hour away in a big city in California. Tad nervous due to the unfamiliar riding position. Any tips? The bike was low sided the fairing is rashes he said the brake lever is slightly bent and he said the wheel is ever so unaligned, but it never bothered him. Even with the bit of damage im getting a good deal on a low mileage unmolested F4i
