Advice for using dehydrated bamboo...

I found an amazing dried out branch of bamboo that was growing near the creek I was visiting. It looks like a magical staff and so I brought it home. I started twining gems and bones (ethically sources squirrel) to it but it's so hollow and fragile feeling, I'm starting to doubt if I should bother. Is there a sealant of sorts that I could get to strengthen the entire branch? I do all sorts of weird crafts just for fun so open to things!
