Surviving

Discussion

Hi! I’m waiting on a decision from the government for SSDI and I have a consult with a lawyer on Thursday. I applied based on mental illness and severe asthma. I have a ton of diagnoses but the one I focused on was treatment resistant depression and how it has ruined my life.

I come on this forum today because I am in my luteal phase and I’m miserable. I got fired from a job with the explanation that they are an ‘at will’ employer two days after I asked for accommodations (not suing, it’s a longer story) and the job before that, I was working in my field as a scientist and my asthma made it extremely difficult to do my job and I left. I have been applying for part time jobs and getting no where, in addition to not being able to breathe most day for hours on end and not being able to get out of bed.

Overall, how do you guys make it through the rough days?

I’m a seasoned mentally ill girlie, had a ton of therapy/psychiatry (still attending) and I see a direct family care provider for my health issues. But I’ve never been unemployed this long and I am highly educated so my brain is going crazy. Help!
