Question about lunch breaks

Hey all, I'm in NB working for a hotel chain as a server.

For several years we were not allowed breaks at all, but this changed recently when they started forcing 30 minute unpaid breaks at the 5 hour mark, insisting that these are not optional.

None in my team want these breaks and despite refusing every time, they get pressured into via threat of being sent home.

15 minute breaks are basically never allowed because they are paid... It might seem an overreaction, but they already will cut me down to 1-2 shifts a week and now 30 minutes out of each shift it's too much.

Can someone please confirm, are lunch breaks mandatory to take in NB? If not, what are the resources that back it up?
