looking for a specific underground sort of guitarist that had to slow production/touring because of worsening health issues

bit of a tipofmytongue situation so I'll describe it as best I can

Was a bit of jazz/fusion/avant garde sort of character, can't describe it very well beyond that.

I believe this person was Serbian or maybe Czech or something, but i also have a tiny memory of Australian. I first saw him play a live gig on youtube and I feel like he's either an Australian guy and the gig was in Serbia or he's Serbian and playing a gig in Australia.

They had, iirc some kind of worsening degenerative disease like ALS. It's absolutely not the more obvious ones like a Jason Becker, and it wasn't something from the 70s or anything. He's relatively young and I think the gig I saw him playing was from ~10 years ago.
