What meds do you not have to wait 3 hours after a meal to take?

I am on Sonata and you have to wait 3 hours after a meal to take it for it to work. I’ve found that even 2 1/2 hours it won’t work for me. I believe Lunesta is the same. I tried that and it gave me Terrible heartburn. I’ve tried trazadone that doesn’t work, and doxepin works but makes me a zombie the next day.

It’s been so hard to wait 3 hours after eating during the work week. What meds do you not have to wait to take? I asked my dr for Xanax extended release because it works great for my sister but my dr wants to try other meds first..
