Is my method for taking notes on my textbook inefficient?

I'm currently (retaking) linear algebra with the understanding that beyond this math requires a pretty strong commitment to the subject if you actually wanna be good at it and get something from it.

Right now, I'm reading through the textbook and writing down pretty much every paragraph on every page in my own words, through key points, and sometimes verbatim. I'd say I spend around 15-20 mins on each page (not including exercises).

Should I consume an entire subsection in one go with this method and then do all of the practice problems? Or should I summarize stuff quicker so I can move onto the practice problems and get through the chapter quicker overall?

My main concerns are missing tiny key details that only a close reading would catch but also spending so long on a chapter than when I move to the next, I forget what I've already learned. If you guys have some methods on how to consume an actual math textbook like mine I'd really appreciate you sharing!
