Doctor sanitary practice endoscope?
Female - 30 - Canada
I went to an ENT today and they put a camera up my nose to check my septum (which I believe is also called an endoscope?)
In the appointment, he took the coiled up endoscope out of what looked like a generic Tupperware box.
I didn’t really think much of it, but after he checked my nose with it, he then coiled it back up and put it in the same box.
I felt like this seemed unsanitary? Surely it needs immediate cleaning/not put back in the same box?
Since coming home, I checked out the doctor a little further on google and turns out he’s had unsanitary practices with endoscopes previously and there was articles telling people to get checked for blood borne diseases if they used him within a time frame.
It made me nervous as I thought it was strange at the appointment and now it really feels like I should have said something.
So I’m assuming no, but Is this normal practice (the plastic box to store them in and it’s cleaned properly between patients) or was that not how they’re meant to be stored?
