People don't understand the difference

I lost my mum suddenly earlier this year. She was still young and so am I.

And I've found that when I tell older people about my mum's death, they immediately go "I know exactly what you're going through, I lost my mum a few years ago."

And I do appreciate the sentiment, but I feel like they don't see that there's a difference between losing a parent as a teenager (and when the parent is still relatively young) compared to when the child is 50+ and their parent was 70+. Both situations are absolutely horrible and losing a parent at any age can absolutely hurt and be difficult, but I feel like it should be okay to notice that there's a difference between them. Like I would never say I completely understand what they're going through, as I haven't gone through a similar situation. I don't know what it's like to lose a parent as a proper adult.

I've only had one person recognise that there is a difference between their situation and mine.

It does annoy me, and I sometimes just want to say, "no, you don't fully understand what I'm going through as our situations are very different." But I also know it does come from a good place. It's just one of those frustrating conversations I've had to have several times, and most likely will for a long time to come.
