If I were to create a car company that recreated and improved old 80's model cars would people buy them/ would I get into legal trouble?

I've been thinking about going into car mechanics to make a company that makes old models of cars that are modernized. Would people buy that? And/or would I get into legal trouble with the companies that made the models originally.
