Late Victorian Christmas church dress code?

Hello everyone! I am hoping someone here could help answer this question as my research has been inconclusive. What would be considered appropriate dress for an evening church service in the 1890s or the late Victorian era more broadly? Would day dress be preferred for women since it's church, or would dinner attire (meaning, evening dress but not ball attire) be acceptable? Could evening wear be accessorized to be appropriate for church in the case of an evening service? Thanks!
