Anyone else think it was stupid to kill off Bonnie?

I mean didnt he seem like a great subsitute to fill in the spot John left when he was killed? With Finn being a stupid wanna be Tommy and Michael falling away from Tommy and the Peakys and then them both being banished and killed surely that would have given Bonnie the oppurtunity to act like a second John, right? Especially since Aberama and Polly were getting married technically making Bonnie Pollys stepson and Tommy and Arthurs stepcousin.
