Anyone else get into a fandom, despite not having consumed the source material?

I have many hyperfixations, which I swap between regularly, but I feel as though I’m not a ‘real’ fan of most of them. For example, I have tons of Naruto OCs, but I haven’t actually read any of the manga or watched the anime, beyond a few clips of jutsu or videos covering certain characters and events. Another example would be BG3. I have tons of saves with different characters and mods, but haven’t progress beyond act 1 with any of them. I feel as though I’m being disingenuous, as I love making OCs for my fandoms, but rarely ever consume the original content to its fullest.
