Looking for a SAFE video downloader—please help!

I've tried a few random tools I found online, but half of them asked for weird permissions or bombarded me with ads. I just want to download videos from social media (TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts) and maybe some movies—nothing fancy.

But

Bonus points if it lets me choose the video quality (1080p is a must!) and doesn’t make me install sketchy software (browser-based or a simple app would be ideal). Does anyone have a go-to tool that’s trustworthy and actually works? I’m tired of wasting time on duds!
