What should I pick up as my first ever read?

I've read children books when I was really young but I haven't bought nor read basically anything ever since. I'll have long flight next week and want to entertain myself with a book.

Just give me your opinion, doesn't matter the genre or if it is a series, just really want to pick up a good book that I can't put down and that gets me hooked on reading books.

I'm 25 and my favorite genres at least in movies are crime mystery and horror but I am absolutely down to try anything you guys suggest for basically a first time reader.
