I hate humans so much
Every day I feel more disgusted by humans. I can't stand them. I wish I could go away to a cabin in the mountains, like Heidi's grandfather.
Yesterday, a woman at work started ranting about bird flu, swine flu, and according to her, the solution is to exterminate all the wild boars and all the pigeons in the country. She literally said, "We need a good extermination." I was about to reply, "Do you want to send all the pigeons in the city to the gas chamber? Are you a Nazi?" but I held back. Instead, I told her that what's needed is the extermination of humans, since they're the ones polluting by land, sea, and air, not the animals. She looked at me like she wanted to kill me and blurted out that pigeons carry a lot of diseases. I replied, “That’s a lie. Whenever you’ve caught a cold, the flu, measles, whatever, someone else gave it to you. You’ve never caught anything from a pigeon in your entire life.” Then the boss started talking to change the subject.
Well, today I got to work—I’d completely forgotten about it because it was such a stupid thing to say—and my boss came to tell me not to argue with her again because she’d filed a complaint: if I ever spoke to her like that again, she was going to make a huge scene. I was stunned. “Talk to her like what? Not always agree with her like she’s crazy? And what’s she going to do, get really angry and yell at me?” (Maybe she's going to call the town hall, like she does all the time; the last time it was because there were some motorcycles parked on the sidewalk and she wanted them towed, even though they weren't bothering anyone at all. But since it's against the law, she figured she could screw over someone she doesn't even know and who's done absolutely nothing to her.)
My boss, who buys rice to throw to the pigeons in the park, told her she's always so nervous, that she should go to a psychologist so they can give her something to calm her down. (I'm dying laughing: "Crazy lady, take your pill and stop being such a pain in the ass.") But then she told me she doesn't want any trouble, "I know she's crazy, but I have to see her every day and I don't want to fight with her." I told her not to worry; she's not on my floor and I only see her if we pass each other on the stairs, but I'm not going to say hello to her, as if she doesn't exist. Then I thought better of it; I'm not going to talk to her, but I don't want her to think she's "put me in my place." I'm not going to back down. When I see her, I'll look at her and laugh, so she knows I'm thinking, "You're a spoiled, pathetic brat who throws a tantrum and cries to the boss to shut me up because you can't win an argument." What's she going to do? Complain because I'm smiling?
You have to be a real lowlife and a bad person to complain to the bosses behind my back just because someone disagreed with you, instead of agreeing with you, and jeopardize their job. Another narcissist who thinks she's the center of the universe.
I don't usually get involved in arguments at work, but this is too much. In my country (Spain), hunters kill 30 million animals a year, including 250,000 foxes, which are like little dogs. Farmers have poisoned a million rabbits. Cattle ranchers are trying to exterminate the wolf, the bear, and the lynx. Every summer, 50,000 bulls are slaughtered for sport. Ten thousand cows are killed every day in each slaughterhouse. Plus the animals in laboratories. Plus the fur farms. Plus the dogs and cats in shelters. And other things I'm forgetting. And now this cretin comes along and says that too few animals are being killed and that more need to be "exterminated."
