Direct to PC issue

Hi guys, I have a home playing/recording set up whereby I play directly into a computer (DAW) via a Behringer Uphoria. There seems to be a pretty noticeable signal level drop after I pick the note which kills the sustain. Is this a thing with non amp direct to PC set ups or am I missing some sort of gizmo that solves this issue. If I raise the level on the Uphoria, the signal clips. If i push up the signal in the DAW, it introduces a lot of noise. Any advice is welcome, thanks.
