I'm sharing this partially to warn everyone in this sub (though the mods already took care of the post in question), and so that even more results will show up when it's Googled.

Kakuma and Gorom are real refugee camps. There are genuine queer people in need of support. BUT DO NOT TRUST RANDOM REDDITORS WHO CLAIM THEY ARE FROM THERE. They are scammers.

The profile in these pictures DMs anyone who follows them, bombards them with images of queer refugee camps and refugees themselves (sourced from anywhere from tumblr to genuine gofundme campaigns), and eventually asks for a donation. I even saw a Kakuma / Gorom scam that blatantly uses AI images.

If you want to help Kakuma or Gorom, donate to UNHCR who is in charge of the camps. Your money is more likely to reach the people who need it that way.

Also posting some images of the suspicious behavior, for anyone else who comes across similar or is in conversation with this profile.

Image 1: Introduced to "Sheedy" from Kakuma.

Image 2: Now introduced to Rashid / Liam, seemingly not remembering we already got introduced. Also doesn't correct me that it's not Gorom, despite me talking about Kakuma minutes before. (Martin is a fake name and exceedingly common in my country, don't worry).

Image 3: (Happened before image 2) Asked for donations. I tried to see their reaction if I said I donated to UNHCR instead. They just sent a string of sad smileys.
